Some days I have nothing left. Work ran long, my mind is full, and all I want is quiet. Those are the days that matter most as a dad.
Kids do not need a perfect father. They need one who shows up. Present, awake and listening, even when it is hard.
Presence beats performance
A big vacation is nice. A full ten minutes of real attention is better. Put the phone down. Look them in the eye. Ask a real question and wait for the answer.
That small thing says more than a speech ever could.
Start small and repeat it
You do not have to change everything tonight. Pick one thing. Eat dinner together. Say goodnight and mean it. Do it again tomorrow.
Habits like that build trust over years.
Ask for help and keep going
I lean on God and on the people around me. Nobody does this alone, and you do not have to either.
If you are tired today, show up anyway. Then be kind to yourself and try again tomorrow.
