When life is hard, being told to be grateful can feel like a slap. But gratitude is not pretending things are fine. It is noticing that something good still exists, even now.
Start very small
A warm cup of coffee. A friend who texted. A quiet moment. You are not ignoring the pain. You are making space for something good beside it.
Say it out loud
Tell one person what you appreciate about them. Gratitude spoken is stronger than gratitude thought.
Let it be mixed
You can be sad and thankful at the same time. Both are true, and both are okay.
The hard season will pass. The people who helped you through it will stay in your heart.
Gratitude when it is hard
Being thankful in a hard season does not mean pretending things are fine. It means looking for what is still good while you deal with what is not.
Start small
Write down three things each night. A warm meal, a kind message, a quiet hour. Some days that is all you will find, and it is enough. Over time it builds strength to keep going.
Make someone's day
Pass this on. One kind message can change a whole day. Then play a game that does some good.
