Kids hear less of what we say than we think. They watch what we do. How we treat people. How we handle a bad day. How we talk about money, work and each other.
That is a little scary, and it is also a gift. It means we can teach just by living well.
They see how you handle stress
When something goes wrong, they notice. Do you yell, or do you take a breath and fix it? Do you quit, or do you try again?
I want to show that hard things can be handled with calm and with faith.
They see how you treat other people
The way you talk to a waiter, a neighbor or their mom shows them what respect looks like. It is the easiest lesson to teach and the easiest one to forget.
Say sorry when you are wrong
This one matters a lot. When you get it wrong, say so. It teaches them that being strong means being honest.
You do not have to be perfect. You just have to be real and keep trying.
