A rushed morning can set a rushed tone for the whole day. You do not need a perfect routine. A few small habits can make mornings feel calmer. Each of these takes about five minutes or less.
1. Drink a glass of water
Keep a glass by your bed or in the kitchen. After a night of sleep, your body appreciates it.
2. Make your bed
It takes a minute, and it gives you an instant win. You start the day with something finished.
3. Breathe slowly
Take five slow breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth. It calms your body and clears your head.
4. Step outside
Even two minutes of fresh air and daylight can lift your mood. Look at the sky, stretch and breathe.
5. Pick your one thing
Decide the one thing that matters most today. Say it out loud or write it down.
Prepare the night before
Lay out clothes, pack the bag and set out breakfast items. A little planning at night buys calm in the morning.
Keep it kind
If you miss a day, no big deal. Start again tomorrow. The goal is to feel a little better, not to be perfect.
Try this today
Tomorrow, pick just one of these habits and do it. Add another next week.
Keep going together
