You Are Allowed to Start Late

Some people think they missed their window. Too old, too busy, too far behind. But many good things start late, and plenty of people have found their best chapter after fifty.

Late is still moving

Starting at any age puts you ahead of everyone who never started. You have life experience they do not.

Skip the comparison

Do not look at the twenty year olds. Look at what you can learn this month.

Take the first small step

Sign up for the class, write the first page, take the first walk. Small beginnings are still beginnings.

The best time was years ago. The next best time is today.

There is no deadline on your life

Plenty of people begin later than they planned. A new career at forty, school at fifty, a first book at sixty. Late is only a word we use when we compare ourselves to a schedule nobody actually agreed to.

Start small this week

Pick one tiny step. Sign up for the class, make the call, write the first paragraph. Do not wait until you feel completely ready, because that day does not come.

You will be a little clumsy at the start. Everybody is. Give yourself permission to be a beginner again. A year from now you will be glad you started today.

Make someone's day

Pass this on. One kind message can change a whole day. Then play a game that does some good.
