It can hit at any age. You look around and everyone seems further along. Better jobs, bigger houses, more figured out. If you feel behind, you are not alone, and you are not broken. Here is how to move forward from where you are.
Stop comparing
You see other people’s highlights and your own behind the scenes. That is not a fair match. You do not know what they have been through. Run your own race.
Write down where you are
List what you have. Faith, family, health, skills, friends, work. You probably have more than you notice. Gratitude gives you a steady place to build from.
Pick one direction
Choose one area to improve over the next three months. Not five. One. Maybe it is health, a skill or a relationship.
Take the smallest step
What is one thing you could do in ten minutes? Do that today. Progress comes from small steps repeated.
Remember the long view
Many people found their path later than they expected. It is never too late to begin again. “To every thing there is a season” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Your season may be starting right now.
Find a friend
Tell someone you trust how you feel. Ask for encouragement. You do not have to carry it alone.
Try this today
Write down three things you are grateful for and one small step you can take this week.
Keep going together
