Some good deeds are a single moment. Others are a promise kept year after year.
Robin Finsterbach owns Aunt Robin’s Diner in Lancaster, New York. Since 2014, she has given free meals to families in need around Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, and free lunches to young people throughout the year.
The numbers are real. According to a proclamation from Assemblymember Monica Wallace’s office, the diner served over 400 meals around one Thanksgiving, over 220 around a Christmas, and cooked about 300 pounds of turkey for people in need one November.
Wallace called Finsterbach a shining example of why Lancaster is known as the City of Good Neighbors.
Think about what it takes. Early mornings, a lot of turkey, and a decision to keep doing it long after the first year. That is the kind of steady kindness that changes a town.
