How you end the day affects how you feel tomorrow. A simple evening routine tells your body and mind that it is time to slow down. You do not need much. A few small habits can help you rest better.
1. Set a shutdown time
Pick a time when work and screens stop. Even thirty minutes before bed helps. Let your mind settle.
2. Tidy for five minutes
Reset the kitchen or living room. Waking up to a clear space feels good.
3. Plan tomorrow
Write your top three for tomorrow. Getting it out of your head makes it easier to relax.
4. Do something calming
Read a few pages, stretch, take a warm shower or listen to quiet music. Keep it low light and gentle.
5. Pray and give thanks
End with a short prayer. Name three things you are grateful for. Hand your worries over. “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety” (Psalm 4:8).
Be patient
Habits take a little time. If you still have trouble sleeping often, talk to your doctor.
