If I could sit down with my son and tell him a few things that matter, this is what I would say.
Be kind when no one is watching
Anyone can be nice when it is easy. Real character shows up in small moments, when no one will ever know.
Work hard and stay humble
Show up on time. Do what you say. Learn from everyone. Some of the wisest people you meet will never be famous.
Trust God, even when it is hard
There will be days that do not make sense. Pray anyway. Keep walking. Things work out in ways you cannot see yet.
Family comes first
Money comes and goes. Your people stay. Call your grandparents. Show up for your family, and let them show up for you.
It is okay to fall
I have made plenty of mistakes. What matters is getting back up, learning, and trying again.
You are enough
You do not have to be perfect to be loved. You are loved already.
If you are a parent, write your own list. Then share it with your kids. They will remember more than you think.
