Let me start with something simple. I love God. I love people. And I am a better man when I remember who is really in charge.
I do not write this to preach at anyone. I write it because building anything worth building gets hard, and there are days when I do not have enough in me. On those days, faith is what I have left, and it turns out it is enough.
If you believe, I hope this encourages you. If you are not sure, you are welcome here, and I hope you find something kind and useful in these words.
Work is not separate from faith
For a long time I treated them like two different boxes. Church and prayer in one, work and ambition in the other. That never held together. The pressure of work followed me into prayer, and my prayers never made it into my work.
Then I came across a verse that changed how I see a Monday.
Whatever you do. Not only the spiritual parts. The emails, the phone calls, the cold outreach, the invoices, the follow ups. When I do them as if I am doing them for God, I show up differently. I am more honest. I am kinder to the person on the other end. I do not cut corners, because I am not performing for a boss or a crowd.
Five verses I lean on
I keep these where I can see them. Short, simple, and they work.
When I need direction
I do not have to be the smartest. I never was. This verse takes the pressure off. My job is to trust, acknowledge him and do the next right thing.
When I am tired
Strength comes back. I have seen it. Rest is part of the plan, not a sign you are failing.
When the goal feels too big
This one is not a promise that every plan works. It is a promise that I am not carrying it alone.
When I want to complain
Gratitude is a discipline, not a mood. When I thank God for my family, my health, my work and the people who believed in me, my problems shrink to their real size.
When life is too loud
Five words. It is the most useful sentence I know for a noisy morning.
A day with room for God in it
Here is an example of a 24 hour day that leaves space for what matters. It is not a rule, just a picture. Notice that prayer is the smallest slice and still the one that shapes the rest.
An example day
Illustration only. Your numbers will look different, and that is fine. The point is to give the important things a real slot instead of leftover time.
My five minute morning practice
You do not need an hour. Five minutes done daily will change you more than an hour done once a month.
Five minutes, five steps
| Minute | What I do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Be still. Breathe slowly. Put the phone face down. |
| 2 | Say thank you for three specific things from yesterday. |
| 3 | Read one verse slowly. Read it twice. |
| 4 | Pray for one person by name, and for one thing you cannot control. |
| 5 | Ask for direction on today’s one key thing. Then go do it. |
Feel free to copy this exactly or make it your own. Consistency matters more than getting it perfect.
When it does not work out
Faith does not mean every deal closes, every plan works or every season is easy. It means I am not alone when it does not. It means a failed project is not the end of my story, and a delay is not a denial.
I have watched people lose jobs, miss targets and take hits they never saw coming. The ones who came out stronger usually had something steady underneath them. For many of us that something is God. It is not a trick for getting what we want. It is a foundation for who we become while we are waiting.
Try this week
- Do the five minute practice for seven days in a row.
- Write down one thing you are thankful for each night.
- Pick one person and quietly encourage them. A text, a call, a note.
If you are going through something hard right now, I am pulling for you. Pray, ask for help from a person you trust, and keep taking the next small step. You are not behind, and you are not forgotten. Let’s keep going together.
Quick answers
How do I start praying if I am not used to it?
Start by talking, plainly, the way you would to a trusted friend. Say thank you, say what you are worried about, and ask for help. There is no wrong way to begin.
Can faith and ambition live together?
Yes. Many people find that faith keeps ambition honest. You work hard and build well, and you hold the results with open hands.
Which Bible translation are the verses from?
These are from the King James Version, which is in the public domain. Use whichever translation helps you understand the verse best.
What if I do not feel anything when I pray?
That is common and it does not mean it is not working. Faith is built by showing up regularly, not by feeling a certain way every time.
