Taking Care of the Body God Gave You
We talk a lot about success, hustle, goals, and purpose here on Positive Phil. But there’s something even more foundational than all of that:
Your health—your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health—is the engine behind your purpose.
And guess what? God cares about your health.
Deeply.
He’s not just interested in your prayers, your profits, or your Sunday routine.
He’s interested in how you’re living—in your body, in your habits, in your energy.
🧠 Health Is Sacred—Not Optional
In today’s go-go-go culture, we often treat our bodies like machines:
Work harder. Sleep less. Drink coffee. Push through the burnout.
But God didn’t design you to grind yourself into the ground.
He designed you to thrive. To think clearly. To love fully. To have energy that fuels your mission—not depletes it.
If your body is the temple of the Spirit, as Scripture says, then it deserves care, respect, and regular maintenance. Not because it’s about perfection, but because it’s about alignment.
How you treat your body is a reflection of how you view your life.
✝️ God Isn’t Just in the Church—He’s in the Kitchen, Too
Think about this:
When was the last time you invited God into your eating habits?
Or your sleep schedule?
Or your stress?
We pray about finances.
We pray about relationships.
But what if God is gently nudging you to drink more water, go for that walk, cut back on what’s draining you, or get that checkup you’ve been avoiding?
Health isn’t about vanity. It’s about stewardship.
You only get one body. And God gave it to you to use, protect, and honor.
You don’t have to go vegan or run a marathon tomorrow. But you can ask:
- “Am I nourishing or numbing myself?”
- “Is my energy serving my purpose—or stealing from it?”
- “What small shift could I make today to treat my health like a gift?”
💬 What Would God Say About Your Health?
This is what I love asking on God’s Podcast:
What would God say?
And when it comes to your health, I think He’d say something like:
“Rest is holy.
Your worth isn’t tied to output.
Listen to your body—it’s not the enemy.
I created you for vitality, not exhaustion.
Take care of what I’ve given you—starting with yourself.”
In other words, God is not impressed by how much you hustle if you’re falling apart inside.
He’s not giving out extra credit for skipping sleep or eating junk just to meet another deadline.
He’s offering something better: balance, peace, and clarity through intentional care.
🔄 Mental Health Matters, Too
Let’s go even deeper.
Your mental and emotional health are just as important as your physical health.
Anxiety, stress, depression—they’re real. And they’re not a sign of weak faith.
God isn’t disappointed in your struggles. He’s not waiting for you to “just get over it.” He’s sitting with you in it—reminding you that you’re not alone, that it’s okay to get help, and that healing is holy.
Whether you need to talk to a friend, a therapist, or a doctor—do it.
God works through community, connection, and professionals who care.
It’s not weakness. It’s wisdom.
🧘♂️ Rest, Recovery, and Spiritual Strength
True health is more than green smoothies and push-ups.
It’s about giving your soul room to breathe.
- Turn off your phone for an hour.
- Sit in silence and ask what your body needs.
- Go outside and feel the sun.
- Say no to one more thing that’s stretching you too thin.
God wired us for rhythm: Work, then rest. Action, then reflection.
The world might tell you to keep grinding, but God whispers,
“Come rest. I’ve got you.”
🔥 Final Word: Start With Love, Not Shame
If you’ve been neglecting your health, this isn’t a guilt trip.
It’s an invitation.
An invitation to return to the basics.
To honor the divine gift of your body and mind.
To stop ignoring the warning signs and start building a healthier, more aligned life—one choice at a time.
You don’t need a perfect diet or a gym membership to start.
You just need to care enough to begin.
And maybe—just maybe—God is nudging you right now.
To rest.
To reset.
To remember that you matter—not for what you produce, but for who you are.
